BLUSH SU-EN Butoh CompanyOpens on: 24 April at 19.00,Also performed on: 25 April at 16.00, 26, 28, 29 April at 19.00, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 May at 19.00 Blush is a feverish performance in deepest red. SU-EN and her three dancers plunge inside their own bodies accompanied by electronic music and instant images. They listen to the blood boiling under the skin and are inspired by the glowing sky at dawn.Blush is improvisation and stylised movement, beautiful on verge of the grotesque. The sounds that are born on stage are processed live by musician Lise-Lotte Norelius and photographs by Gunnar Stening are converted live by artist Fredrik Olofsson. SU-EN calls it a ”live-musical-butoh-action-art-installation”. About SU-EN SU-EN has pioneered the art of butoh in Sweden. After many years of studying the art in Japan she founded the SU-EN Butoh Company in the nineties, through which she continues to develop her own special butoh method. The three dancers that appear in Blush are SU-EN’s students. ![]() Photo: Gunnar SteningBOOKING ABOUT Choreography and concept: SU-EN Dancers: SU-EN, Lina Palmgren, Frida Larsson och Marie Gavois Sound composition and live processing: Lise-Lotte Norelius Image composition and live processing: Fredrik Olofsson Lighting design: Svante W Monie Space, costumes and makeup: SU-EN Photographs: Gunnar Stening In co-operation with Statens Kulturråd, Uppsala Kommuns Kulturnämnd Thank you Per Johan Jansson/Stora Väsby gård, Anders Rönnlund, Danstationen, Moderna Dansteatern Length of performance: approximately 60 minutes |
